Our Team

Laura Sack, LMSW

I’m Laura, a licensed social worker and psychotherapist based in New York City. My practice centers on creating a safe, affirming and nonjudgmental space for my clients. I believe that the relationship and trust built between the therapist and the client is the most crucial part of the therapeutic process. Through my warm, friendly and grounded approach, I help my clients feel connected and comfortable from their very first session. My ability to listen and respond with care and intention allows my clients to feel truly seen, heard and understood.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we can explore past trauma, intrusive thoughts and difficult emotions. My goal is to help my clients grow and evolve by identifying unhelpful patterns and behaviors, developing coping skills to better manage challenging moments and deepening self awareness and acceptance to move towards healing and goals for the future.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, life transitions (moving, career changes, break ups, etc.) and eating disorders. With a background in and a passion for women’s mental health, I have experience supporting clients through fertility struggles, perinatal challenges, egg freezing, miscarriage, sexual trauma and loss. Additionally, I have an extensive background in yoga, meditation and breathwork. I am a strong believer in the mind-body connection and love incorporating mindfulness and somatics into my work.

With a strengths-based, trauma-informed lens, my approach is humanistic, interpersonal and client-centered. I practice holistically, integrating many different modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness. While my demeanor is compassionate, curious and gentle, I always remain transparent and direct, and even use a little humor when it’s helpful. If you think we might be a good fit, please don’t hesitate to reach out for a consultation call. I would love to begin to get to know you and would be honored to be a part of your therapy journey.
